What was Hilton like eighty years ago at the beginning of the second world war? A National Register compiled on 29th September 1939 provides a remarkable insight into every household in Hilton. Evacuees had already arrived, but there was not enough room in the village school. The National Farm Survey, two years later, gives a detailed account of farming in the parish. There is so much which can be found out about Hilton at a critical point in its development.

I have brought all this together in a book so that everyone can share what I have discovered. If you would like a copy (£7 to help cover printing costs), please contact me at 3, Mill Hill End, or phone 07484 650209
