Hilton Village Hall

alt

After taking advice, the Hilton Village Hall Committee have decided to close the Village Hall until further notice. They are looking at potentially using it during this time as a support hub for the village. Please keep checking  here and Facebook for more information

The Village Hall is a community facility independently run by a dedicated group of volunteers called the Hilton Village Hall Management Committee.  The hall is for the use of residents both in Hilton and the immediate surrounding area.  The hall now serves the local community by offering an excellent venue to host private parties, children’s parties, weddings and a wonderful variety of clubs to incorporate many interests and ages.

The Hilton Village Hall Management Committee meet on the third Monday in every month to discuss any matters arising with the hall and its maintenance together with fundraising.  As the Village Hall is a listed building repairs can be costly and there are many guidelines which now need to be followed.  The Village Hall is now registered with ACRE’s (Action with Communities in Rural England) Village Hall Network and this keeps the Village Hall Management Committee up-to-date with all relevant information and legislation.

We hope you enjoyed making them and everyone really enjoyed seeing the results.

With thanks from the Village Hall Committee”.

A Fabulous village turn out with many "virtual" street parties and miles of bunting and flags decorating houses. Please send your photos but you can also find a wide selection HERE

Hilton Village Hall Committee Big Bank Holiday Family Project - 8 - 11th May

Firstly and most importantly during this unprecedented time, we hope you are all keeping safe and well.

As I am sure many of you will be aware, due to national guidance we have had to close the Village Hall until the current social restrictions are lifted.  We have been, along with the Parish Council, Town Trust and WI, thinking of ways we can continue to support community life in Hilton.

Hilton Village Hall Committee would therefore like to set you a Big Bank Holiday Weekend Challenge.  Over the next Bank Holiday weekend (8-11 May) we would like you to be innovative and creative and make a scarecrow - out of anything you may have lurking in your garage or shed - it doesn’t have to be traditional in any way, a cardboard cut-out, an old stuffed shirt,  plant pots - be inventive.  Then place your creation in your front garden or safely at the end of your road.

We are setting this challenge to give families of all ages something fun to do together during this period of lockdown. Most importantly we are not wanting or encouraging you to make any non essential trips to shops to find resources for your scarecrow - please use what you have creatively.  We are hoping that this will provide a fun distraction for all of us out on our usual daily walk, something extra for everyone to discover and look out for over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Do we have a theme - not really but perhaps acknowledging the link with the 75th anniversary of VE Day on the 8th May and how previous generations coped with periods of challenge and uncertainty; a hero/heroine or inspirational figure of any era, book, period of history - we will let you choose.

In line with not encouraging people to gather in large groups we will not be producing a map, something we have done in the past, but we would like to put photographs on the Village Hall Facebook page and village website of all your efforts so please send your pictures to us.

This is not a competition, there will be no winner, but I think as all the initiatives already underway in the village through the Parish Council, Town Trust, WI, friends and neighbours show - when we encounter tough times, either personally or as a nation, Hilton is a very supportive village to live in and we are very lucky to all be part of this community.

If you have any queries please contact Lesley Fordham on 07715459485 or Pauline Reynolds on 07980 413687.

Good luck, have fun and keep safe.
