THE EVERY MAN REMEMBERED TRIBUTES by St. IVES and DISTRICT ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
The third commemoration for Hilton men who fell 100 years ago in World War One and who is named at our Lychgate Memorial will be for Leonard Ernest Beck.
Leonard was only eighteen years old when he was killed in November 1915 and he is buried in the Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Crunchy, France.
His ceremony will be organised by Mike Robinson, Secretary of St. Ives and district, Royal British Legion as part of the usual Morning Service in the Parish Church on Sunday November 29th.
The bugler for the Last Post will be Kevin Charter who has very close family links with Hilton.
There have been Beck families in the village since before 1818 and Leonard was born here in 1887.His father was John, a housekeeper ,his mother was Jane and Leonard had two sisters and four brothers , one of whom has a descendant living in Hilton today .
It is hoped that as many people as possible will join in this very special tribute to another our Fallen. Bus Schedule Changes - July 2015
