A14 Junction 23 (Spittals Interchange) to Junction 31 (Girton Interchange): Repair Works
On behalf of the Highways Agency, I am writing to inform you of overnight repairs to the eastbound and westbound carriageway of the A14 Trunk Road between Junctions 23 (Spittals Interchange) and 31 (Girton Interchange). The works will involve repairs to worn out sections of the carriageway and the renewal of road markings.
The works will be carried out in 2 phases, with phase 1 scheduled to start on the evening of Wednesday 24 July 2013. The working hours will be between:
Eastbound 8:00pm and 6:00am Monday night
9:00pm and 6:00am Tuesday to Thursday nights
10:00pm and 8:00am Friday night
9.00pm and 6.00am Monday to Thursday nights
10.00pm and 7.00am Friday night
All works are planned for weekday nights Monday to Friday. We have included additional shifts in case of unforeseeable delays to programme.
Phase 1 24 July to 5 August
During the works it will be necessary to implement an overnight closure of the eastbound carriageway between junction 23 (Spittals Interchange) and junction 31 (Girton). A signed diversion route will be in place for traffic wishing to travel eastbound on the A14.
Through traffic wishing to travel eastbound on the A14 will be diverted onto the A1 southbound at Brampton Hut. Traffic will be directed to join the A428 eastbound at St Neots to re-join the A14 eastbound at Girton Interchange.
Local residents with access directly off the A14 will be escorted through the works from Spittals Interchange.
Phase 2 2 August to 17 August
During the works it will be necessary to implement an overnight closure of the westbound carriageway between junction 31 (Girton) and junction 23 (Spittals Interchange). A signed diversion route will be in place for traffic wishing to travel westbound on the A14.
Through traffic wishing to travel westbound on the A14 will be diverted onto the A428 westbound at Girton Interchange to join the A1 northbound at St Neots to re-join the A14 westbound at Brampton Hut.
The A1307 from A14 Junction 31 will remain open for access into Cambridge. Access will be maintained at all times for Emergency Services.
Access will be maintained for residents via gatemen, who will receive a separate letter of notification.
